Papercast launches ultra-low power alternative to LED bus stop displays

Papercast – the world leader in e-paper passenger information displays – launches a new sustainable replacement to the power hungry LED 3 and 4 line signage in bus shelters.

The new 28” e-paper display features Papercast industry leading power efficiency – proven to use 32x times less energy than LED systems – and can be powered by long-life or solar rechargeable batteries. Completely off-grid, public transport providers can now passenger information to any bus stop location. The display can also be hard wired into mains electricity where available, with the stated power consumption benefits.

The displays are wirelessly connected to Papercast’s cloud-based Content Management System, which seamlessly integrates with real-time passenger information data feeds, such as SIRI and GTFS protocols.

Papercast e-paper displays were developed and launched in 2016 to improve the passenger experience by providing a flexible and easy to deploy real-time passenger information solution for public transport providers. It offers a completely future-proof replacement for legacy electronic systems and traditional paper timetables while providing the ideal technology platform for smart city public transport information solutions.

With customers in more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas and Australasia, Papercast technology is behind many high profile public information initiatives worldwide and was awarded the Queen’s award for Enterprise International Trade in 2021.
